I am back from a hiatus from writing, the hiatus started with a significant death in the family, which blasted my ability to create to smithereens. To the purpose of returning to the writing life, I attended the North Carolina Writer’s Network conference last weekend in Wrightsville Beach with a dear writer friend. The keynote speaker was Clyde Edgerton, who was a real hoot. I heartily recommend his books and certainly take advantage when you can of any speaking engagement. The workshops were useful and showed me just how much more there is to be a successful writer then the writing. If you’re a writer or dreaming about living the writing life in North Carolina, do yourself a favor and join the North Carolina Writers’ Network. It’s a great avenue to contacts, agents, editors and other writers that can help you. I meet someone new every conference that shows me an aspect of writing I didn’t know. Join up. You’ll be glad you did.
